The Human Touch
I was asked recently why Omega doesn’t provide clients and introducers with an online sourcing system, as in many parts of the financial services sector this is becoming a common feature. This is a reasonable question and was by no means the first time it has been asked, so I thought I would set out our current way of thinking on this subject.
After 22 years and despite huge advances in technology we honestly don’t believe we can do justice, via that route, to what are usually complex assessments and analyses necessarily arising from almost infinite variances in customer requirements/circumstances and lender criteria.
With over 100 potential lenders for commercial transactions, many of whom don’t have specific products or pre-determined pricing, we doubt any genuine all-encompassing technological solution will exist any time soon.
No matter its complexity or quality, software cannot for example judge whether a lender will ‘take a view’ on a particular piece of information or quirk of an applicant or their circumstances. No one wants the wrong answer from a machine, whether that’s a false positive or negative! Only good brokers can make these kinds of judgements, and we have several of those!
